_______________________

Sun City Texas Residents,

Due to five confirmed encounters between hikers and aggressive coyotes over the last month, we are immediately closing the Hidden Ravine Natural Area, Quarter Moon and Mockingbird Hiking Trails. These closures are for the safety of our residents, guests and their pets and will allow our Wildlife Biologist time to safely access these areas to remove the problem coyotes. Please note, the goal is not to remove all coyotes from our community, but only the problem ones that are being aggressive towards humans and their pets.

Your Board takes these encounters very seriously and thankfully, no one nor their pets have been injured. These trails will remain closed until further notice. Since a firearm will be utilized by our Wildlife Biologist during this process, residents are strictly forbidden to access these trails. Those who disregard this notice and the "Closed Trail" signage during this closure will be fined $250 by the Sun City Texas Community Association. No exceptions will be made.
We thank you all in advance for your cooperation and support during this important closure. All other trails in Sun City are open and we encourage you to utilize those during this time.

Please be safe, and if you do encounter a coyote while out on a trail remember these safety tips if approached by a coyote:
  • Appear Large & Aggressive
  • Make Loud Noises
  • Back Away Slowly
  • Do Not Run

Sincerely,
Board of Directors
Sun City Texas Community Assoc.

All trails highlighted below are affected by the closure.
