Join Us for Wildfire Community Preparedness Day - May 3
Submitted by the Sun City Texas Firewise Group
Each year the Firewise Group, Property & Grounds Committee and the CA sponsor the Annual Wildfire Community Preparedness Day to maintain certain common areas as part of our ongoing Firewise Program. Join your Sun City Texas neighbors on Friday, May 3, for this special day and help make Sun City a safer and cleaner place. We will start at the Social Center Ballroom with registration plus coffee and donuts at 8:30 a.m. At 9 a.m., a short safety briefing and work assignments will be given.
Groups will fan out to remove small Ashe junipers (cedar), dead fall, and trash in selected areas near the Social Center. Closed-toe shoes are required. Long pants, gloves, and shirts with long sleeves are highly recommended. Bring your hand-held pruners and limb loppers clearly marked with your name. No tools? Come out and help remove dead fall and trash! We will work until about 11:30 a.m. and then gather back at the Ballroom for a lunch of brats, hotdogs, chips and beverages as a reward for your service.
Beginning April 26, sign up online on the Resident Home Page or at the Social Center Monitor's Desk to help us prepare.

Help Make the Red Poppy Festival a Zero Waste Event
Each year, thousands of people attend the Red Poppy Festival generating more than 10,000 pounds of waste. Last year, nearly 70 percent of that waste was diverted away from the landfill, either by composting or recycling. Volunteers are needed at eco-stations to help attendees place trash in appropriate recycling containers. Volunteers are also needed to assist in picking up litter. No experience is needed and volunteers will receive a free Red Poppy Festival T-shirt.

Street Maintenance Updates
We have updated the schedule for the days that were postponed due to weather and the section from April 5th that only received only one coat of pavement sealer. The new dates can be found on the website. I have also attached the phasing maps for each area. If weather postpones any future date, we will send out a new schedule and update the website.
Click Here to see new maps and link to Georgetown's street project site.
