Capital Projects Subcommittee (CPS) Opens Solicitation for 2026 Projects
Submitted by Bill Hale, Capital Projects Subcommittee Chair
In 2022, the Community Association (CA) introduced a new method to gather community-driven capital project ideas, evaluating and prioritizing them. These projects, exceeding $5,000 in cost and having a useful life greater than two years, aim to enhance facilities and amenities for our residents. The process strives to promote community engagement in proposing projects and ensures transparency in evaluating and prioritizing them for CA funding in future fiscal years.
For initial evaluation, project proposals from chartered clubs are first submitted to the Chartered Clubs Committee; proposals from all other groups or individuals are first submitted to the Property & Grounds Committee. Approved projects are submitted to the CPS for scoring and ranking according to published criteria. CPS recommendations go to the Finance Staff for inclusion in the 2026 proposed budget and to the CA Board for approval in November.
Project proposals may be submitted at any time, but must be received by Friday, May 16, to align with the CA budgeting schedule for fiscal 2026.
In 2024, we received eight project proposals, recommending two for implementation in 2025. This year, we’ll follow the proven process from the past three years. Emphasizing co-funding/cost-sharing, we recognize budget constraints and cost pressures, expecting chartered clubs and individuals to fund significant portions of their proposals.
If you have project ideas, consider these steps:
- Secure a sponsor (chartered club, group of residents, etc.) for proposal development and securing cost-sharing. Select one individual to serve as contact point throughout the approval process.
- Review materials on the Property & Grounds/CPS website for proposal formats, last year’s outcomes, and evaluation criteria.
- Seek assistance from CPS members (shown on the CPS website) to enhance your proposal with examples from successful submissions.
- Meet the Friday, May 16 deadline.
