Subject: Computer Club-Apple SIG Meeting

Reminder, the Apple SIG will be meeting Friday, April 19th at 2:30 lasting until 3:30 or 4:00 in the Lone Star room at the Retreat.

Recap of last month's meeting:

I would first like to thank Glenda for her presentation on how to use Apple devices to access the Computer Club website. Upon seeing (by a show of hands at the February meeting) that many SIG members had no idea how to access the club website, she took it upon herself to try and rectify that through her presentation. Kudos to you Glenda.

The last meeting was a trial of the "open forum" format. We will continue with this format until we can find a leader for the SIG (see below). By a show of hands, over 80% of attendees indicated that they learned something new and of value; another 15% indicated that they were able to assist, or help, others with problems. I can only hope that such participation/help will continue and that more will try to help their fellow members out with problems and/or questions. I also hope that even more will realize that everyone can contribute their knowledge and can depart feeling rewarded for having provided their help to others. This is the main reason for this type of meeting. If we could get one person per table to get things rolling, I believe that the open forum concept can prove beneficial.

Friday's Meeting:

I hope we can continue this helping of each other. I would also like to try a presentation style group discussion on "your favorite App". I would like some of you to talk about the App(s) you have found useful that others may not know about. Give a brief recap of the app and how you use it. Think of elementary school talks on "My Vacation", short and sweet recaps. Give it some thought and maybe everybody can walk out with a new App to play with.

Unfortunately, a new leader has not stepped up yet. As evidenced by my involvement, it should be plain to see that it takes very little to head up a group of motivated members. If I can attempt it, then there must be a more qualified individual(s) willing to take up the call and keep this SIG going. If anyone has even a slight sense of interest please chat with me at the meeting, or by email ([email protected]). Hope to see you there!
