Friendly Reminder: Bat Season
Spring is the time when Mexican free-tailed bats arrive in Central Texas.
If you find a downed bat: Never touch a grounded bat!
If it is alive, leave it alone. Bats can take off from the ground. If it is dead, do not touch it with your bare hands. (Not all bats have rabies.) You may pick it up with a shovel or plastic bag and place both the bat and the bag into another plastic bag, spray with disinfectant, close the bag securely, and dispose of it with your garbage. Thoroughly wash your hands and any clothing that comes into contact with the bat.
To report a bat or other animal that you believe may have rabies, call the 24-hour number for the Georgetown Police Department at 512-930-3510. An animal control officer will respond to the report.
If there is a possibility of either pet or human exposure to a bat, please contact Animal Services immediately, 512-930-3592. Animal Services will collect the bat to submit it for rabies testing at the Texas Department of Health.

Update your resident profile by Friday, March 15
NO LANDLINE? NO PROBLEM!
Update your resident profile by Friday, March 15.
Even if you have been listed in the printed Sun City Texas directory in the past, it is critical that each resident update their profile in the online directory by Friday, March 15! If you do not have a land line and wish for your cell phone number to be included in the Listings by Street Address section, be sure to list ONE household member's cell phone number in the home phone field of your online profile. If the home phone field is left blank, your cell phone numbers will appear in the Resident Listings by Name, but not in the Resident Listings by Street Address.
If you have no changes, then no further action is necessary on your part.
You may also call the Member Services office at 512-948-7720 to make updates to your profile information.

EMC Town Hall
Thursday, March 21, 9 a.m.
SCB
Guest speakers: Georgetown Police Chief, Fire Chief,
and Emergency Management Coordinator
NEW! Sun City residents are significant targets for fraud, scams, and burglaries of vehicles. Georgetown is the most rapidly growing city in the United States, and with growth comes more criminal activity and homelessness.
We will host Police Chief Cory Tchida and Fire Chief John Sullivan to give us the latest news for our town.
As a bonus, we have Christy Rogers, Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Georgetown, who will help us understand what we can do to be ready. She will also cover the City’s plans for the April 8 Solar Eclipse and how we are affected.
The EMC Town Hall is the place to get those questions answered. Join us this year when Chiefs Tchida and Sullivan speak about and answer your questions. And learn even more from Christy Rogers. We look forward to seeing you there!
One more bonus: we are serving coffee and donuts for all attendees! Doors open at 8:30am so that you can visit at the tables for these organizations (and get donuts).

Sun City Library Design for
Cowan Creek Lobby
Library Relocation Update
We want to provide you with an update regarding the potential relocation of our library. Pending approval from the Property and Grounds Committee, Finance Committee, and the CA Board, we are considering moving the library to the Cowan Creek lobby.
Layout Overview:
- Central Bookshelves: The proposed bookshelves will stand at a maximum height of 6 feet, allowing natural light to filter through the large two-story window at the back of the lobby. Some bookshelves will only be 4 feet tall.
- No walls or doors will be dividing up the lobby/library it will be an open space.
- Seating Zones: Residents will have six designated seating areas:
- Fireside Reading: Adjacent to the fireplace, ideal for book club discussions or quiet reading.
- Scenic Views: Conveniently located near the glass windows, offering picturesque views of our landscaping.
- Work and Study: A dedicated space for residents to work with their laptops.
- Sunlit Retreat: Another zone near the glass windows, providing a serene atmosphere.
- Outdoor Oasis: Two additional zones outside, equipped with patio furniture similar to what we have near the Lonestar room at The Retreat.
Design Aesthetics:
- The video presentation showcases the layout in white, emphasizing furniture placement and design.
- The lobby’s existing beams and wood will be preserved, maintaining their natural appearance.
Next Steps:
- In three weeks, the designer will finalize the design presentation and create a pricing package.
- The pricing package will then be submitted to three contractors for competitive bids.
- The three bids will then be presented to Property and Grounds, Finance Committees and Board Members will review the bids for potential approval.
FAQ's:
What will happen to the current library space at the Social Center? It will be transformed into office space for our IT Staff if the project is approved.
Where are IT offices currently located? In dressing rooms next to the Social Center Ballroom stage.
What will happen to our room reservations for the Andice Room in 2024? The Andice Room will no longer be a reservable space if the project gets approved. Fitness has generously agreed to share the Salado Room for reservations. Currently, Fitness has zero classes on weekends or past 4 p.m., and four days they have two classes or less scheduled in the Salado Room. This arrangement will allow over 300 annual reservations to move into the Salado Room or other available spaces when Table Tennis, Dance and Drill, and Ballroom Dance relocate to Silver Hall, freeing up over 500 reservations across campus.
Where will the puzzles be located? The puzzles will be relocated to the front entryway. We’re collaborating with the Woodworking Club to build shelves specifically for our puzzle exchange program.
Your Feedback Matters: Please review the initial plans and share your thoughts with Jenny Phillips at [email protected]. Your input is valuable. Thank you for your engagement in our community.
