Line the Streets Today!

As the 108 soldiers arrive from Fort Hood today, you are asked to line Sun City Boulevard from the Highway 195 entrance all the way to White Wing Golf Course, waving and cheering the buses as they pass. Once the buses reach White Wing Golf Course, they are met with even more residents waving their flags, eager to shake these young soldiers’ hands.

Buses are scheduled to arrive at White Wing just after 11 a.m., so come on out and say “thanks” to the troops!

  • 11 a.m. Cheer the troops as they turn in from SH 195 onto Sun City Blvd. led by the motorcycle roar of the Patriot Guard. Line the streets and wave your flags.
  • 11:20 a.m. Everyone is invited to greet the troops at White Wing prior to play.
  • 1 p.m. Tournament begins. Each hole is sponsored by a neighborhood. All residents are asked to stake out a spot and be there to cheer the troops.
Thanks to the Troops Shirts!

Now in stock at the White Wing golf shop are unisex tee shirts and men’s and women’s polos with the Thanks to the Troops logo. Show your support for our soldiers and pick one up today!

and do not cut into a line of Jr. Camp golf carts!

Next week, June 19-22, will be the second session of Junior Camp. Counselors are transporting campers in limo golf carts to different activities. These carts travel in a "parade line," of three limo golf carts with campers plus two safety golf carts. Keeping these carts together keeps our campers safer, please be patient and don’t pass the golf carts on single lane roads.
Please remember that Junior Camp will be happening throughout Sun City Texas from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on June 19 - 22.

Friendly Reminder: Cycling Safety for All
Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

Sun City Texas is blessed to have a variety of activities and sports that enhance our active lifestyles and make our community the vibrant place so many love to call home. One such popular activity is cycling and unfortunately is has been brought to the CA’s attention that some of our drivers are being less than courteous to our cycling friends and neighbors and in some cases, cyclists are not following the laws and being courteous as well. As such, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone using our public roadways to be courteous and remind the community of the law dealing with riding on our public roadways, especially when we see the cyclists legally riding two abreast on our two laned roads (Del Webb, Sun City Blvd, and Cool Spring Way).

Please read the Texas Transportation Code on the right an see safety tips below.
Texas Transportation Code

Chapter 551 addressing operation bicycles, Sec. 551.103, Operation on Roadway states:
(c) Persons operating bicycles on a roadway may ride two abreast.
Persons riding two abreast on a laned roadway shall ride in a single lane (that means single lane of the roadway, not single file)
Persons riding two abreast may not impede the normal and reasonable flow of traffic on the roadway
Persons may not ride more than two abreast unless they are riding on a part of a roadway set aside for the exclusive operation of bicycles."
Bottom line, it is legal and permissible for cyclists to ride two abreast on our three major roadways (listed above). They are not impeding traffic as there is a left lane automobiles can use to proceed safely around them. Cyclists, please ride single file when appropriate to avoid impeding traffic or creating unsafe situations on other streets.
Helpful Reminders for
Drivers & Cyclists!

Please keep our roads safe for all users.
Bicyclists
  1. Wear a helmet when cycling on our public roadways. While not always required by law, it may save your life in the event of an accident.
  2. Bicyclists must obey the same traffic laws as motorists.
  3. Bicycles are not permitted to ride on our sidewalks, trails or nature trials.
  4. Make sure people can see you! Wear bright clothing (even during the day) and use lights at night and twilight!
Drivers
  1. Please watch for bicycles at intersections, particularly Del Webb and Sun City Blvd
  2. Motorists (cars, motorcycles and golf carts) should keep a safe distance from bicycles that are sharing the roadways with them.
  3. Please be careful when passing cyclists on all roadways and please give them plenty of room to avoid cutting in front of them after passing.
