Temporary Disability

Did you purchase a 2023 Golf Pass or Punch Card and now find yourself facing health issues where you cannot play golf at this time? If so, consider submitting a 2023 Golf Cancellation form to receive a credit for future golf play for the remainder of 2023 and/or for 2024. Refunds are only given if a pass/punch card holder dies or becomes permanently disabled.

A credit/refund will be considered upon submission of a Golf Pass or Punch Card Cancellation form and completed Physician’s Statement on Medical Disability to the CA Accounting department. These forms can be found at the golf pro shops, the Member Services office or online. More information with regard to a credit or refund can be found on the 2023 Golf Cancellation form itself or by emailing [email protected] or calling 512-948-7714.

Please note that a credit disability or refund will only be honored if no golf rounds have been played since the date of disability. All disability requests submitted after October 31, 2023, will be limited to an amount no greater than 25% of the original amount paid.

Adopt-A-Hole

Our Adopt-A-Hole program is an important part of golf in Sun City. Adopt-A-Hole is an all-volunteer program that helps keep our golf courses in good shape and also saves money by helping keep maintenance issues to a minimum. Volunteers fill divots, repair ball marks on greens, clean up loose tees, repair or move restraining ropes as needed where excessive cart wear to grass is apparent, notify Maintenance of any exceptional issues that need to be addressed, etc.

White Wing #15 is in need of a Captain and several volunteers due to retirement of the individuals who previously filled those roles. The Captain assumes responsibility for directing the team and serves as the communication focal point for his or her team as part of overall Adopt-A-Hole program coordination. The retiring Captain has indicated a willingness to assist in the training and transfer to a new individual.

Additionally, Cowan Creek #9 is in need of additional volunteers. There is an active Captain for the hole but is working solo.

If you are interested in becoming the Captain for White Wing Hole #15 or to be added to the team, please contact Chris Hoss, Adopt-A-Hole Program Coordinator at [email protected]

Yoga Stretch for Golf

Hey Golfers, if you want to improve your breathing, your balance, your overall health and your golf game, you need to join Yoga for Golfers. Kathy Carver, Group Fitness Coordinator, has developed a yoga class that caters to the needs of the golfer. It is every Wednesday from 6:45 to 7:45 a.m. at Cowan Creek Fitness Center.

Golf Club Repair

As a reminder, we have club repair services. These include regripping, cutting clubs down, lengthening clubs and re-shafting. For specific details, please contact Andy Miller at 512-948-7583 or [email protected]

Golf Course Access

Please note that the golf courses are for golfers playing only. Walking is not permitted outside of the published walking times on the assigned courses on Monday's and they are not to be used as a cut-through. Please utilize the neighborhood streets when traveling to the golf shops. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Policy Revision – Access Policy for

Golfers with Disabilities

The Access Policy for Golfer with Disabilities was up for revision in 2023. We’d like to give a big thank you to the Golf Operations Subcommittee as well as the Golf Committee for making changes to the policy to simplify the program and ensure better controls are in place to manage the policy. Below are the significant points/changes to the policy along with a link to review the policy in full.

1. All residents will be required to resubmit the appropriate documentation and obtain a new flag following Board Approval.

2. Residents obtaining a permanent Disability Flag will only be required to complete the initial paperwork and will not be required to reverify annually. Permanent Disability Flags will be permanent for the duration of said resident’s residency in Sun City Texas.

3. There will be new flag colors and only two different flags.

  • Permanently Disabled Residents regardless of gender – Green Flags
  • Temporarily Disabled Residents or Resident Guest – Orange Flags

4. A one-time non-refundable fee equal to the cost of the flag will be charged for each permanent disability flag issued.

5. A one-time non-refundable fee of $20 will be charged for each temporary disability flag issued.

6. When a permanent flag is issued, the correlating number on the flag will be registered within the Chelsea System to tie that flag with the flag holder.

7. When a temporary flag is issued, the correlating number on the flag will be registered within the Chelsea System to tie that flag with the flag holder. Additionally, a suspension date will also be registered in the Chelsea System that correlates with the duration of the stipulated temporary disability. The temporary flag must be returned prior to or on the expiration of the temporary disability to remove the suspension date from the Chelsea System. If the flag is not returned by said date, the resident’s access to the Chelsea System will be suspended until the flag is returned.

Timeline for implementation of the new policy:

NOW – At the White Wing Golf Shop, players can now begin turning in the necessary documentation to be placed on the list for their new flag.

June 1, 2023 – The golf staff will take the roster of individuals that submitted their documentation and purchase flags. Once the flags arrive a note will go in the Golf Communicator to come to White Wing Golf Course to pick up their new flag and dispose of their old one.

July 1, 2023 – The old flags will no longer be valid and the new policy will be fully in place.

Posting scores to GHIN

The minimum number of holes to be completed for a 9-hole score to be posted is 7 holes. The minimum number of holes to be completed for an 18-hole score to be posted is 14 holes. If these minimums are met then players can use, “par plus handicap strokes,” to add holes not played to get a permittable score.

Example: A 9-hole player starts on hole 11 and finishes on hole 1 in a shotgun start. A score of, “par plus any handicap strokes,” can be used for hole 10 to gain a permittable score.

Please note the 7 holes to be completed must be on the same front or back 9 holes, i.e., if a 9-hole player starts on hole 15 and ends up on hole 4, that is not a permittable score since fewer than 7 holes were completed on either 9 holes.

For more clarification, please contact one of the Golf Professional Staff.
