Sun City street maintenance starts Monday, Sept. 26
The City of Georgetown will start street maintenance in Neighborhoods 48-59 and 64 on Monday, Sept. 26. The production schedule is weather-dependent, and if there are delays, the city will update the community. If rain occurs on roads scheduled for that day, then that road will be pushed to the end of the schedule. Click here for map and schedule >>
All street closures will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. During this time, all vehicular access (cars and golf carts), including street parking, will be prohibited on streets where maintenance work is being performed. Move vehicles to open streets on the day your street will be undergoing the sealant application.

Sun City Hosting USTA Tri-Level League Doubles Tennis
TODAY, Sept. 23, through Sunday, Sept. 25
The Sun City Tennis Club is hosting the annual adult Tri-Level Doubles League competition this weekend, September 23-25, 2022. “Hosting this event is an ideal opportunity to introduce central Texas adult tennis players to the Sun City community and to show off our beautiful tennis facility," says Kathy McWhorter, Tennis Club President. In June Sun City successfully hosted the Texas Slam Junior Tournament that included the top junior tennis players in Texas.
Tri-Level Doubles is a two-weekend round robin competition of doubles teams at three different NTRP levels and you play against players at your same level. Line 1 is a team consisting of the highest NTRP of the offered level, Line 2 is the second highest, and Line 3 is the lowest level of the offered level.
1. Week 1 (9/23-25): Sun City will host the NTRP 3.0/3.5/4.0 level players
2. Week 2 (9/30 – 10/2): The Austin locations will host the NTRP 3.5/4.0/4.5 level players
We encourage residents to come out and watch the matches. Food truck will be available on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the tennis club parking lot.
Winners advance to the state level “Sectionals” competition held in Austin, Texas in January 2023.

Beware of baby rattlesnakes
Rattlers are born in late summer and early fall with sightings increasing in October. As temperatures begin to cool, snakes become less nocturnal making them more likely to be found in the daytime.
Sun City's volunteer snake wranglers can assist with snake identification, removal or relocation. Click here for their information on page 5 of the Sun Rays.

Friendly Reminder: Using streets, sidewalks and trails safely in Sun City Texas
If beating the heat leaves you walking or cycling at dawn or dusk, here are some tips to do so safely.
Cyclists:
- Wear a helmet and use a front (white)/rear (red) flashing light.
- Wear neon, fluorescent or other bright clothing.
- Whenever possible, ride during the day.
- If you must ride at night, wear reflective clothing and use flashing lights.
Follow the rules of the road:
- Get acquainted with traffic laws; bicyclists must follow the same rules as motorists.
- Ride in the direction of traffic with two-abreast or single-file to avoid impeding traffic.
- Remain alert, keep your head up and look around; watch for opening car doors and other hazards.
- Use hand signals when turning or going straight and use extra care at intersections.
- Never hitch onto cars or golf carts.
- Before entering traffic, stop and look left, right, left again and over your shoulder.
Walkers:
- Wear reflective or bright clothing.
- Light your way with a small flashlight or headlamp.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Avoid distracted walking.
Reminder: No walking in the road if a sidewalk is accessible.
Know night walking safety rules:
- Walk facing traffic so you can see and react to vehicles.
- Use extra caution when crossing streets. Drivers do not expect pedestrians to be out walking at night.
- Safety in numbers: Use the same routes used by other walkers and runners.
- Beware of tripping hazards. It is harder to see uneven sidewalks, roots, rocks, potholes and trash when it's dark. Walk with your eyes, noting the ground 15 feet ahead to see upcoming hazards.
- Don't be blinded by the light. Headlights can make it difficult for you to see for a while. Choose paths without frequent changes in lighting levels.

The line trimmers can be two weeks or more behind the mowers. All cuttings will be left where they fall. This is a Firewise exercise only, and not for aesthetic, or any other purpose.
