Friendly Reminder: Political Sign Policy
Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]
As we are in the political season and many residents are posting their political signs in their yards, please be mindful and respectful of their rights to have these signs. Unfortunately, we are already receiving calls reporting unfriendly comments, letters and gestures for posting their political signs. Our community is better than that and please be respectful of your neighbor’s political views. If vandalism occurs to your political sign (s), please let the Georgetown Police know.

Time to treat for fire ants
Submitted by Carlton M. Mathis,
Common Area and Irrigation Superintendent
[email protected]
Ant bait treatment is performed by the CA in September. Signage reminding residents to treat their yards will be seen on Sun City roads with high traffic. Treating for ants works best if we all treat at the same time.
Do-it-yourself tips for successful ant treatment application:
- Do not schedule any irrigation for 48 hours after treatment and wait until all dew has dried from turf area before starting.
- Do not apply bait if there is a chance of rain within the next two-day weather forecast.
- Do not apply if temperatures are below 60 degrees.
- Use small amounts of bait and broadcast with a small hand spreader. If applying by hand, be sure to wear plastic gloves and follow label directions.
- Check with your lawn care company to see if ant control is included in your contract before purchasing an ant treatment product.
Remember, if you see ant mounds during the year and you wonder if the product is working - ant bait is a means of control, not eradication.
