Legacy Hills Golf Shop Renovation

We are excited to announce we will begin the Legacy Hills Golf Shop renovation in September. Tentatively, the project will take seven weeks. During that period, check-in procedures will remain the same. The Golf Shop check-in will be located in the Caddy Shack as the Legacy Hills Golf Shop will be closed until the remodel is complete. Please see the schedule below, and CLICK HERE to see the designed layout.

  • Tomorrow, Sept. 2 – Check-in will begin in the Caddy Shack at Legacy Hills
  • Monday, Sept. 5 – Demo and construction begin (4-5 weeks)
  • Monday, Oct. 10 – Carpet installation (4 days)
  • Monday, Oct. 17 – Cabinet and Countertop installation (2-4 days)

Cancellations and Tee Time Availability

Earlier this year, we communicated a new policy that requires golfers to cancel their unused tee times in a timely manner – at a minimum 24 hours in advance. This policy will benefit our community and golfers in several ways:

  • The unused tee times will become available in Chelsea so other players can view the open tee times.
  • Golfers who didn’t have a tee time can reserve one of these open slots and play.
  • Golfers who had an inconvenient time or location, can move to an open slot that is more convenient.
  • It’s polite and respectful to other golfers in our community to cancel unused tee times promptly.
  • Players who are “no show’s” or cancel on the day of play won’t be able to deprive other players of playing opportunities.
  • Players can help to improve the financial well-being of our golf courses by avoiding any unused tee time reservations.
  • Revenue shortfalls can be minimized and increases in green fees can be mitigated.
  • Courses can continue to be maintained in excellent playing condition.

Prior to the next Golf Committee Meeting, we will be observing the tee sheets at the end of each day to see if day-of or late cancellations are reduced. We will discuss these observations and how to proceed from there at the next Golf Committee Meeting. Thank you for your assistance.

Golf 101

Now that the weather is cooling down a little bit, it’s time for Golf 101 classes to resume! The Golf 101 class is designed for individuals and couples who are beginner golfers, golfers with limited golf experience, or golfers who have experienced a significant layoff. This class offers golfers instruction on all aspects of the golf swing as well as rules and etiquette tips, and general information regarding playing and practicing in Sun City Texas. The current class offering is below, but based on the level of interest, more classes may be added. We look forward to seeing all our new golfers!

Punch Card Balances

We are now approaching the fall months, and there are a number of punch card holders, especially Afternoon Pass Holders, 25-round and 50-round punch card holders, that are running low on rounds. In some cases, punch card holders have used all their initial balance. To check your balance, you may review your monthly statements, or you may inquire with the golf shop.

The current agreement allows punch card holders to purchase additional rounds at the same per round punch card rate with the minimum quantity being 10 rounds (not applicable to the Afternoon Pass). To purchase additional rounds, or in the case of an Afternoon Pass or a New Pass, please stop by one of the golf shops.

Posting scores to GHIN

The minimum number of holes to be completed for a 9-hole score to be posted is 7 holes. The minimum number of holes to be completed for an 18-hole score to be posted is 14 holes. If these minimums are met then players can use, “par plus handicap strokes,” to add holes not played to get a permittable score.

Example: A 9-hole player starts on hole 11 and finishes on hole 1 in a shotgun start. A score of, “par plus any handicap strokes,” can be used for hole 10 to gain a permittable score.

Please note the 7 holes to be completed must be on the same front or back 9 holes, i.e., if a 9-hole player starts on hole 15 and ends up on hole 4, that is not a permittable score since fewer than 7 holes were completed on either 9 holes.

For more clarification, please contact one of the Golf Professional Staff.
