Celebrate the addition of two beautiful nature trails to the Sun City trail system by exploring Cowan Creek Trail and Yaupon Creek Trail on Monday, Nov. 1.

The Pulte Group, CA and Sun City Hiking Club invite residents to participate in the official opening of these recently completed North Point Network Trails between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., “rain or shine.” A special highlight will be a stop at the new Bird Blind being donated to the Sun City community by the Nature Club.

Sidewalks, Walking Paths
and Nature Trails Rules
Submitted by Community Standards, [email protected], 512-948-6243.

Paragraph C of Section VII of the Community Association Rules and Regulations outlines the rules for using community sidewalks, walking paths and nature trails. All wheeled vehicles, including but not limited to golf carts, bicycles, skateboards and motorized vehicles, are prohibited on all sidewalks, walking paths and nature trails. Only personal conveyance carts such as motorized wheel chairs and personal mobility devices (scooters) for handicapped and or disabled individuals, and bicycles or tricycles being used by children when accompanied by a supervising adult, are the only wheeled vehicles authorized for use on sidewalks, walking paths and nature trails.
Wildlife Town Hall

Tuesday, Oct. 26, 9:30 a.m.
SCB

The Sun City Texas Wildlife Management Committee (WMC) will host a town hall meeting again this year to discuss the diverse Sun City Wildlife, along with the challenges we face in maintaining a healthy balance between residents and these different species. We will discuss the Whitetail Deer Management Program which will include the results of the recent census and also first findings from the camera survey of Sun City mammals.

Where is that event?

With so many new residents in Sun City, we want to be sure everyone knows about the curious initials next to an event date and time. Below is an example:

Friday, Oct. 22, 9 a.m.
SCB

The highlighted abbreviation is the location of the event. SCB means Social Center Ballroom. At the top of this e-blast is a link to the page that decodes Sun City's location acronyms. Click here for Sun City Acronyms on sctexas.org.
December Local Nonprofit Events

Do you have a favorite local nonprofit that is seeking donations or holding a fundraising event in December or January? If so, email a paragraph of 75 words or less to Emily Wallace at [email protected] by Friday, Oct. 29 for consideration for publication in the December issue of Sun Rays.

Articles must include the name and purpose of the charity, the reason it is seeking donations and the name and email or phone number of a contact person.
DELAY IN APPROVED PROJECTS
Submitted by Community Standards

The Design Guidelines require projects to be completed within 120 days of the project’s approval by the Modifications Committee. Due to recent supply chain challenges, materials can take up to six months to be delivered once ordered. In light of this, and other concerns, the Community Standards Department wants to communicate the ability of homeowners and/or contractors to acquire an extension on permit completion dates for the foreseeable future.

If you experience a delay that will cause your permit to expire prematurely, please email our office at [email protected], with your permit number and the Sun City address of the project, to let us know the anticipated completion date of the project. Please contact Ginny at [email protected] or 512-948-7462 with any questions.

Native Area Maintenance

Round two of Native Area mowing is going well, and we are progressing at fair pace. The proposed neighborhood order of maintenance is listed below. Neighborhoods in the North Point section of the community that are not listed, have not been turned over to the Community Association.

Although most of this process can be handled by our mowers, there are some areas that are less accommodating and will need to be handled with line trimmers. The line trimmers can be two weeks or more behind the mowers. All trimmings will be left where they fall. This is a Firewise exercise only, and not for aesthetic or any other purpose.
