Street Maintenance Update

The City of Georgetown has provided an updated street maintenance schedule. Contractors are scheduled to make up the rain days lost this past week. You'll see work is even scheduled for weekends now so that contractors can take advantage of good weather before rain is more prevalent later in the fall.

DELAY IN APPROVED PROJECTS
Submitted by Community Standards

The Design Guidelines require projects to be completed within 120 days of the project’s approval by the Modifications Committee. Due to recent supply chain challenges, materials can take up to six months to be delivered once ordered. In light of this, and other concerns, the Community Standards Department wants to communicate the ability of homeowners and/or contractors to acquire an extension on permit completion dates for the foreseeable future.

If you experience a delay that will cause your permit to expire prematurely, please email our office at [email protected], with your permit number and the Sun City address of the project, to let us know the anticipated completion date of the project.

Questions? Please contact Ginny at [email protected] or 512-948-7462.

Watch out, it's deer season!

   Firewise Offers Home
   Ignition Zone Evaluator
   Training
   Submitted by Firewise Training
   Coordinator, Paul Ohlenbusch,

The Sun City Firewise Group is offering the Home Ignition Zone Evaluator Training on Friday, Oct. 29, 9 a.m. to noon. Home Ignition Zone Evaluator (HIZ) Training will qualify you to be a HIZ Evaluator.

To volunteer and register, by Thursday, Oct. 21, go to the Firewise webpage on the Sun City web site (click About Us, then Firewise in left column, then click on volunteer). Fill out the form and check the box "Home Ignition Zone Evaluation Work Group," before you click submit.

After completing five HIZs with an experienced HIZ Evaluator, Evaluators are assigned HIZ requests to evaluate the exterior of the home and make recommendations to the home owner. The results are strictly between the homeowner and the Evaluator. The training will be in the classroom building an understanding of the Firewise program, procedures, what to evaluate and why it is important.

Native Area Maintenance

We began the second round of our biannual maintenance this week. Much like the beginning of our first pass in June, we are being challenged by the recent rainy weather and have had a slow start. The proposed neighborhood order of maintenance is listed below. Neighborhoods in the North Point section of the community that are not listed, have not been turned over to the Community Association.

Although most of this process can be handled by our mowers, there are some areas that are less accommodating and will need to be handled with line trimmers. The line trimmers can be two weeks or more behind the mowers. All trimmings will be left where they fall. This is a Firewise exercise only, and not for aesthetic or any other purpose.
