Policies & Procedures for
Guests and Kids Swimming
Guests: Resident guests allowed in all CA facilities. Masks optional. Please click the link for a full list of guest check-in policies/procedures for use of fitness amenities.
Grandkids at the pools: Children ages 4-15 may use the outdoor pools at The Retreat, Cowan Creek and Texas Drive Fitness Centers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. seven days a week. All pool attendees must check-in at the fitness center desk.

Weekend Pool After-Hours!
 + Outdoor Pools/Spas Open until 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays/Sundays.
 
+ After-hours you must enter through the side gates at Texas Drive, Cowan Creek and The Retreat. The fitness centers will close at 5:30 p.m.
 
+ The Texas Drive outdoor bathrooms will be open from the outside doors only.
 
+ The Cowan Creek bathrooms will be open from the outside doors only.

+ The Retreat outdoor bathrooms will be open during after-hours.
Please help our staff by cleaning up after yourselves - return your swim noodles, lay the chair backs down and move all chairs back to the appropriate spot.

Log in to sctexas.org. Click on Fitness. Then click on Texas Drive or Cowan Creek to view the class schedules and class descriptions for each fitness center.

TIPS FROM THE TRAINERS
Did you know that our bodies move in three different planes of motion? They are the Frontal, Sagittal and Transverse planes.
 
The Frontal Plane splits your body to create front and back halves. For example, when you raise your arm laterally or from the side, you are activating your Frontal Plane. An abduction kick or side kick is also performed in the frontal plane.
 
The Sagittal Plane splits your body down the middle to create right and left sides. When you raise your arm in front of your body, you are moving in the Sagittal Plane. The last plane, the Transverse Plane, splits the body into upper and lower halves. For example, rotating your torso is a way of moving in the Transverse Plane.
 
For a more effective workout, it is important to include exercises that engage all three planes of motion. And always remember, safety first. Consult your physician before changing up your workout, as some exercises are contraindicated in some situations. For example, a person with back complications should practice caution when using the rotary torso machine.
