Sun City Texas is very excited to be hosting the Boys’ and Girls’ 5A and 6A State Tournaments this year and will be needing volunteers in the following area:
The Girls will be playing Monday and Tuesday, May 10-11, and the Boys will be playing on Monday and Tuesday, May 17-18. Play will take place on Legacy Hills and White Wing golf courses. If you are available and would like to volunteer at this fun and prestigious event, please contact Janice Brown at [email protected] to let her know that you would like to help out!

Patriot Golf Day scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend |

The 15th Annual Patriot Golf Day® takes place Memorial Day Weekend this year beginning Friday, May 28, continuing through Monday, May 31.
Golfers nationwide are asked to donate a minimum of $1 to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation® to provide educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our great nation.”

Friday, May 28, through Monday, May 31, we will be soliciting donations to support this wonderful cause. To help with this event we’d like to request Veteran Volunteers to donate a couple of hours of their time. Typically, each shift is a couple of hours and the times will be determined based on tee sheet configurations. Please contact Mike Pender at [email protected] if you would like to volunteer.

Cart Limitations During UIL at Cowan Creek
From Saturday, May 8 to Thursday, May 20 the Cowan Creek Golf Course will have a limited number of golf carts available for rent. If you are playing at Cowan Creek during these dates, please do your best to make arrangements to ride with a playing partner. If this is not possible, please be sure to reserve a golf cart ahead of time with the Cowan Creek golf shop. Both White Wing and Legacy Hills will have plenty of carts throughout those dates. Walking League – Push Carts are Now Available!
For those who participate, or would like to participate, in the walking league that is scheduled each Saturday afternoon beginning at 3 p.m., push carts are now available for rent. The cost is $5 and will be available starting with the Saturday, May 8 play day.
Please be sure to indicate that you would like to reserve a push cart when you call to make your reservation so we can plan accordingly.

Adopt-A-Hole Program
Our Adopt-A-Hole program is an important part of golf in Sun City. Adopt-A-Hole is an all-volunteer program that helps keep our golf courses in good shape and also saves money by helping keep maintenance issues to a minimum.
|
|
Volunteers fill divots, repair ball marks on greens, clean up loose tees, repair or move restraining ropes as needed where excessive cart wear to grass is apparent, notify Maintenance of any exceptional issues that need to be addressed, etc. Teamwork is performed on a periodic basis, generally weekly or semi-monthly, at the discretion of each Adopt-A-Hole team. |

Holes are usually “adopted” by groups of golfing buddies or golfers from a neighborhood that is near a given hole. Teams can be any size and are headed by a designated “Captain”. This person assumes responsibility for directing the team and serves as the communication focal point for his or her team as part of overall Adopt-A-Hole program coordination.
While all of Sun City Texas’ golf holes are currently “adopted”, teams at Cowan Creek #1, and Legacy Hills #1, #5 and #9, are looking for additional members. Temporary Golf Shops
We are moving right along with the repairs and remodel of the White Wing and Cowan Creek golf shops.
|
|
Paint has been completed and we are now working on lighting. Once carpet has been installed we will be able to move the golf shop staff back to their respective shop locations and begin adjusting to the new normal. Thank you for your patience, our current target is to open the shops in May. We will not have the cabinetry completed by then, but we will be able to adjust the operation.
The temporary golf shops for White Wing and Cowan Creek are now operational. Cowan Creek Golf Shop is located in the lobby of the Cowan Amenity Center and White Wing Golf Shop is located at The Oaks. If you have any questions you can call each shop on their normal phone line. Please continue to check in at the tee or proceed to your hole for a shotgun. Again, thank you for your patience!

Share your photos from around the golf courses with us. We know some of you are incredible photographers and we would love for you to share your photos with the rest of the community. Please send a photo you shot on one of the three golf courses along with a short description. When sending your picture please send in the highest resolution possible and please provide a title you would like used if selected. We will select one photo per week to post in the Golf Communicator with the photographer’s name and the photo description. The staff is working toward the ability to share all photos submitted on the Sun City Website. We should have an update soon.

In an effort to reduce traffic in the golf shops as much as possible, Golf passes and punch cards for 2021 are now available for purchase by Member Charge in all three golf shops. You can call any of the three golf shops and they can handle your transaction over the phone. The phone numbers for each golf shop are below.

Golf Course Walking Rules
- Walking Only
- Resident and Resident Guest Only.
- Resident guests must be accompanied by a resident.
- No bicycles or golf carts.
- Pedestrians must stay on the cart path unless to maintain social distancing.
- Residents must carry CA issued resident badge or driver’s license.

Pets must be on a leash and you must clean up after your pet.
- Please bring a mask with you on your walk. If you can’t maintain six feet physical distancing then put on your mask while passing people and remove it when you are six feet away.
