 Meet the Candidates

My name is Gerry Charlebois and I am running for a position on the Sun City Community Association Board of Directors. After retiring, I moved closer to my children and grandchildren in 2015. My daughter lives here in Georgetown with three daughters and a son in the Houston area with a daughter and son.

When I first moved to Sun City, I joined clubs, socialized, got bitten by the golf-bug, and enjoyed Sun City life. I have held leadership roles in several clubs and my neighborhood. As the Chair of the Chartered Club Committee, we worked in tandem with the CA Board to create guidelines for a safe community during the pandemic.

I have an undergraduate degree from SUNY, a master’s degree from the University of Rochester, administration, and multiple certifications from UNT and SMU. I have been afforded excellent opportunities working in a large school district outside of Dallas. I have presented and received training from Austin… to Charleston… to Harvard… to China. My forty years in education as a teacher and administrator gave me skills in technology, teamwork, and communication.

As an administrator, my main purpose was customer service. It did not matter if my ‘customer’ was a student, parent, principal, school board member, or community business owner. The mission is the same: To listen, problem solve, and be fair in finding a solution, while also being fiscally responsible. These skills are applicable and beneficial as a Board member.

As a Board member I would work diligently to maintain and enhance our lifestyle. Life changes, just as we move into the next phase of our Next Normal. These changes need responsible, caring, and knowledgeable people working for our community.
Thank you for your consideration and I would appreciate your vote.
Sandy Goodman

It has been my honor and privilege to serve this community as a Resident Director on the Sun City Texas Board of Directors since May, 2015. I am again asking for your support to continue my efforts to maintain the wonderful Sun City lifestyle.

After spending many years living overseas, my husband Mike and I became homeowners in 1999 and permanent residents in 2006. During the years of ex patriot life, I served on boards of international organizations which helped expatriates adjust to new cultures while serving the local communities by fund raising. Because of my experience in these many cultures as a resident, I believe I have an understanding of people and how they function in everyday life. I also have learned that there is more than one way to find a solution to a problem, and sometimes even in different languages.

Here in Sun City Texas, I enjoy many outside activities including pickleball, tennis and golf. Playing bridge keeps my brain actively moving. I have been an officer of several chartered clubs including president of Zoomers for 5 years.

Serving on the Nominating Committee gave me the opportunity to meet many outstanding residents of our community who applied for our CA advisory committees. My time on this committee and the CA Board of Directors has given me a picture of the inner workings of our community. I understand how our community functions with the interaction of the advisory committees, residents, the CA Board, chartered clubs, and Staff.

I also enjoy making a contribution to Georgetown and surrounding communities through membership in The Assistance League Georgetown Area.

This is such a wonderful place to live, and it is my desire to continue my service as a resident director and to help keep Sun City Texas an outstanding community.
