It is very important that we continue to safely utilize the fitness centers and pools.  Fitness Classes for May!
  • New Waitlist for reservations for classes will begin Monday, May 3. If a class you want to take is closed (FULL), you can click on the option to get on the waitlist. If a space opens, you will be notified by email that you are now in the class. The waitlist will take the next person in line for the class. If only one space opens, and a couple that registered together happens to be next in line, it will not bring them into the class, it will jump to the next “one person” reservation.

  • RESERVATIONS ONLY - Log in to the Sun City Website, click on Fitness, then scroll down to see the reservations. There are limited spaces, so we ask that you limit your reservations to five classes per week (this is a combination of all class types). Cancellations must be made AT LEAST 24 HOURS PRIOR TO the class you have registered for on the website (under "My Reservations"). For indoor classes, masks must be worn covering the nose and mouth. You may not take the mask down or off during class except to drink water. For outdoor classes, masks must be worn to class and after class. You may take your mask off when class begins. No masks required in the pool, but masks must be worn around the pool deck.

  • Cancellations - If you cannot attend a class, and it is less than 24 hours before the class time, even if it is the same day or an hour before the class, please call the Fitness Center to let them know, so they can open that space for others.
In order to most accurately view your class reservations, log in to the SC website, and on the Resident Home page, click on the "My Reservations" button on the right side click to view and/or cancel class reservations.
NEW “NO SHOW” Policy for Fitness Classes - We have been very lenient with residents not showing up to a class without cancelling. However, if you do not show up for a fitness class that you made a reservation for, you will be charged $4 for that class. Or if you have tickets on your account, we will redeem one from your account.
  • Call the Texas Drive Fitness Center at 512-948-7751 to cancel TD classes and the LHP classes.
  • Call the Cowan Creek Fitness Center at 512-948-7781 to cancel CC and the CCP classes.
You can purchase class tickets at any fitness center - 15 for $48; 30 for $90. These tickets are good for one year. Class ticket extensions cannot happen until after they expire. After your tickets expire, contact Beth White at [email protected] or call Beth at 512-948-7753. Please include your full name and member #! She will then put them back on your account for another year. If you have questions about any class tickets on your account, please include your full name and member # when you contact Beth White at [email protected] or 512-948-7753.

 TIPS FROM THE TRAINERS
As the weather heats up, we will find ourselves doing more activities outside. Pickleball comes to mind. It is important to realize that, while pickleball is fun, it is a specific form of exercise and we need to take care to avoid injury.

Make sure you have good court shoes. Gym shoes in general can be dangerous on the court. Running shoes, for example, are designed for linear, or forward motion. Trying to step sideways and making sudden turns while wearing running shoes can lead to falls and/or broken bones. Court shoes are designed specifically for the various moves on the court.

Before a game, warm-up by moving your joints around and walking for about five minutes or so. After a game, stretch your legs, shoulders and wrists.

Attached for your reading pleasure is a short article from Harvard Medical School that explains some of the highs and risks of pickleball. Click here for article>>
