  • Visitors Center, 103 W. Seventh St.

City street crews will continue to treat roads and bridges. Georgetown residents should avoid travel if possible through Wednesday, Feb. 17, and exercise caution while driving. Visit drivetexas.org to watching changing road conditions.

Electric outages

Georgetown residents should be prepared for electric outages as the winter storm rolls through the area. Electric crews are on standby to respond to outages resulting from ice on the power lines.

People who experience a power outage should first consult the City website for the outage map. If the outage affecting you is not shown, please call Customer Care at 512-930-3460. Calls received before 8 a.m. and after 5 p.m. will roll to the Control Center, which will have limited capacity to answer calls while working to restore power and ensure safety. If your call doesn’t go through, please try calling back again in 10 to 15 minutes.

To report a downed tree limb on power lines, please email [email protected]. Crews will focus on removing tree limbs that are on power lines and blocking travel lanes on major roadways. Tree limbs on residential driveways and streets will be addressed as crews are available.

There is a chance the state’s electric grid (ERCOT) will experience energy shortages, resulting in rolling blackouts. The City is monitoring the situation and will post relevant notices to the website and social media.

Residents can help conserve energy by:

  • Turning down thermostats to 68 degrees
  • Turning off and unplugging non-essential lights and appliances
  • Not using large appliances
  • Closing shades and blinds
  • Close off doors to, and air vents in, unused rooms

Solid Waste and Recycling Collection

Texas Disposal Systems will not collect landfill trash or recycling on Monday, Feb. 15.  If you are on a Monday route, your carts will be collected later in the week. The Transfer Station is also closed and will resume service after the winter weather event is over and roads are safe to travel.

GoGeo bus service

GoGeo fixed-route and paratransit services are suspended Monday due to worsening weather and road conditions.

Weather updates

The National Weather Service discourages travel in the Hill Country and Northern I-35 corridor as many roadways will remain treacherous and snow and ice freeze. A winter storm warning is in effect until noon Monday, Feb. 15.

According to the NWS, freezing rain and sleet and snow are likely in portions of the I-35 corridor through Wednesday, Feb. 17. Visit forecast.weather.gov for weather forecast updates.

With temperatures expected to fall below zero with the wind chill, please protect the 4Ps: people, pets, plants, and pipes. Find more info about how to protect your home and pets at https://bit.ly/2Jx3SJ7.
