You Can Bank On It!

When someone tells you “the check is in the mail” you have every right to be dubious. But when someone here at the Fitness Center tells you “a work order has been issued,” you can absolutely take it to the bank.
For those residents who are convinced that Fitness personnel don’t tend to repairs in a timely manner, please let us explain how the “work order” system operates: When a problem is detected or reported to the Fitness Operations Manager, a work order is generated on the computer and sent to the maintenance department. The work order is then assigned to a maintenance technician to fix the problem. Unfortunately, the maintenance crew is responsible for the entire Sun City Texas Community Association campus, so priorities have to be triaged, so to speak. This can sometimes cause a delay.

Problems that seem to take a long time to resolve are generally those with low priorities or that require parts that must be ordered.  Occasionally a work order may slip through the cracks, but you can rest assured that this is never due to a lack of concern by either the Fitness Department or the Maintenance Department. We track all work orders and are continually in contact with maintenance to remind them of any outstanding work orders in Fitness. You can bank on it!

TIPS FROM THE TRAINERS

In the days following our reopening, we have heard from many residents who feel excited to be back in the gym. We have also heard from many residents who feel discouraged (it makes us sad), because the long break hindered them from working out like they would have in a normal situation. As a result, many of us feel like we’ve gone backwards, lost strength and gained weight.

First thing we have to remember is that we are our own worst critics. We judge ourselves harshly. Sure, we might not be where we want to be, but it’s really not as bad as it seems.

To help get you motivated, we wanted to illustrate how losing just a few pounds of fat can make a world of difference. The photo you see above is a model of five pounds of fat. When you look at the averaged size coffee mug next to it, you get a sense of just how much fat we lose when we burn off those five pounds. Plus, if we were to break that down further, and cut the model into fifths, each pound still represents a significant volume of fat lost when you burn it off.

We are making the case that every pound counts in your weight loss goal. The loss of one pound might seem like just a drop to some, but it is a pretty significant drop. Be proud of yourself!
