NEW! When you make your reservations for the fitness centers and the pools you are allowed to make the reservation for yourself and one additional member in your household. We are working with Members First on a new reservation launch time and will update the community when that change is made.

There are many rules and regulations to help keep our community safe while allowing us to open fitness centers. To use the facilities here are some of the main rules that must be followed.
  • No mask - No reservation - No entry!
  • Residents are required to wear a mask inside the fitness centers.
  • Masks must be worn entering and exiting the fitness centers and while working out.
  • Masks are no longer allowed to be removed during strenuous activities. The only exception to the mask rule is while residents are in the water at the pools.
  • Mask must always cover both the nose and mouth.
  • Residents must sign in for one-hour increments.
  • Residents can reserve five times a week. The reservation week runs Monday-Sunday.
  • Residents are required to sanitize hands when entering and exiting the fitness centers.
  • Residents may only arrive five minutes before their reserved time.
  • 6-feet of social distancing is required inside the fitness centers.
  • Residents are required to clean equipment before and after their workout.
  • Lockers and showers are not available during this time.

Friendly Reminder
Use Sidewalks vs. the Street Whenever Possible
Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director

From time to time I am asked if it is okay to walk in the street when there is a sidewalk available. I checked with our friends over at the Georgetown Police Department and here is the law as it relates to this issue:
Sec. 552.006. USE OF SIDEWALK.
(a) A pedestrian may not walk along and on a roadway if an adjacent sidewalk is provided and is accessible to the pedestrian.
(b) If a sidewalk is not provided, a pedestrian walking along and on a highway shall if possible walk on:
  • (1) the left side of the roadway; or
  • (2) the shoulder of the highway facing oncoming traffic.
(c) The operator of a vehicle emerging from or entering an alley, building or private road or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian approaching on a sidewalk extending across the alley, building entrance or exit, road or driveway.

Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1995. Amended by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 497, Sec. 3, eff. June 11, 2001.

Please help keep us all safe by adhering to this law when applicable. As The Retreat and North Point areas, both with neighborhood sidewalks, are built out, more and more sidewalks will be available for the community. Thanks and stay safe!

Future Horticulture Club Members

We will be planting our Fall Gardens by mid September and expect to harvest in December before the usual frost. Many plants do survive but it is iffy.  You need to know that our year begins on Tues, Dec. 1 when dues and bed rental fees are payable for 2021. Up until then fees are considered to be for 2020.  So, it might be good to hold off with your membership application until Dec. 1 unless you join by the beginning of October.  I hate to see anyone have to essentially pay twice. So, please come see the garden by making an appointment with me at [email protected], but think about the best time for you to join given this information. Thanks, Carol Hopper, President.
