Jeff Hughes and Chaparral were one of Austin's alternative country music trailblazers in the early 90s, fusing together genres outside of traditional music to create a more diverse sound that retains its country roots. The band's five-piece format is based on a combination of country standards and American rock with a two-step swing beat. Chaparral has been a favorite of Austin dancers for three decades and the group is currently in residency at Sagebrush in Austin.
