Based on the true story of the underdog Mighty Mites football team who went from playing without shoes to the Texas state championships. During the Great Depression, high school coach Rusty Russell (Luke Wilson), haunted by his own mysterious past, gives up a privileged position to coach football at an orphanage in Fort Worth. With Rusty's guidance and his innovative strategies, the team soon becomes an inspiration to their city, state and an entire nation, and even catches the attention of President Franklin D.
