Overflowing with adventure, beauty and history, the Texas Lakes Trail Region has long been a meeting place where the Blacklands meet the Grand Prairies and the Old South meets the Wild West. Explore the heritage and culture of this trail along with the bright lights and big personalities that have made Dallas one of the shining stars of Texas.

Tuesday – Begin with a look at the Lakes Trail timeline preparing us for our first stop at Dallas’ Old Red Museum. Housed in the beautiful 1892 courthouse are four galleries of Dallas history – from a mammoth tusk to Tom Landry's fedora and everything in between. Following lunch on your own in the historic West End, enjoy a guided tour trolley ride with photo opps at the JFK Memorial and Pioneer Plaza. Happy hour at hotel and your choice of dinner on your own at Shire Village.

Wednesday – The trail today begins at The Star, home to the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters and training facility. Guided tour includes the Taj Mahal of locker rooms to the game planning War Room; then step out into the restaurant and shopping district for lunch.  Our next stop is Southfork Ranch, home to one of TV's longest running series, Dallas.  Shop the gift store, visit the museum and take a guided tour of the Ewing Mansion – Who shot J.R.?  North Park Mall is our destination for dinner, shopping and a garden stroll.

Thursday – An exploration of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, including the fairy tale world of Peter Pan’s Neverland, start our day. Autumn has transformed the gardens into a Pumpkin Village where cafes and kiosks offer lunch items as you stroll the grounds.  Choose either the JFK – 6th Floor Museum ($14) or the Dallas Museum of Art (free) for your final adventure before we head home from a Texas Lakes Trail adventure that's bigger than Dallas.
