Each summer high school and college performing arts students from across the country audition to perform in Summer Stock Austin.  Entering its 14th season, students work side-by-side with local and national theater professionals learning about every aspect of a theater production. Six weeks of rehearsal results in three fully produced musicals. This year’s first production is The Music Man.

Follow fast talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he tries to con the good people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize, despite that fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef.  Watch as his plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for the town librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen.  By turns wicked, funny, warm, romantic and touching, this six-time Tony Award winning musical comedy is a summer stock favorite.

Pre-matinee lunch is on your own. Choose from downtown Austin restaurants such as Café Blue, P.F. Chang's, Micheladas Café y Cantina, Crepe Crazy, Gus' Fried Chicken, and Fareground Austin.  Maps and menu suggestions provided.

Ticket cost includes transportation and 2 p.m. matinee.  Maximum tickets:  39
