Romance, history, and sweet treats for Valentine’s Day!  Our first stop, The Armstrong Browning Library, is an elegant Italianate building graced with 62 stained glass windows. Celebrating the poetry of Elizabeth and Robert Browning, the library houses the largest Browning collection in the nation. Our self-guided tour includes three floors of rare 19th century manuscripts, fine decorative arts, paintings, Elizabeth's Victorian salon and a special Wedgewood collection.

Lunch will be at Sironia, a charming tearoom located within a glitzy gift shop. A special plated lunch features homemade chicken salad and vermicelli salad, fresh fruit, muffin and raspberry iced tea.

After lunch, we will tour 19th century homes in the historical district.   Divided into groups of 10, each group will tour two of the following homes:  Fort House (1868) features antique glass and Pickard China;  Earle-Napier-Kinnard House (1858) houses treasured family heirlooms including a rare rosewood pianoforte;  McCulloch House (1866) is a Greek Revival beauty which began as a simple 2 room home and expanded into an elegant pink brick mansion;  East Terrace House (1872), an Italianate Villa, was a popular style along the Hudson River and remains a reminder of the extravagances railroad money brought to the West.  Trained docents will fascinate you with the history of these homes and their former occupants.

Ticket cost includes transportation, tours, and lunch.
