Forty, Funky and Fabulous is the theme for the 40th Hyde Park Home Tour in this historic Austin district.  In the 1890s amongst the pecan and hackberry trees people began to build these uniquely styled homes, named after London’s prestigious address.  Gardens fill many of the lots where the Queen Anne homes stand.  These decorative gingerbread homes with brackets and colorful banister are topped with gables and fish scale shingles.  Reflected in the unique character of the neighborhood is the famous sculpture artist, Elisabet Ney’s home and surrounding natural gardens.

Maps to study on the ride down will be provided, and a volunteer will greet us when we arrive.  Get ready for some great Austin history lesson and the famous people of the neighborhood.

NOTE:  We will tour all six homes on foot, in a four block area. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Ticket cost includes transportation and home tours.
