April 2021 - Mark Nissen
I was born in Wisconsin, living there my first 25+ years. I moved to New Mexico for work, the next 34+ years. My partner, Nicida, and I moved here January of 2019, just before the pandemic hit.
My dad enjoyed photographing whenever we traveled. I remember many evenings viewing slide shows. That was my start.
I enjoyed a 30+ year career in photo instrumentation. It is a non-contact measurement technique used in mechanical testing. I have witnessed thousands of test items intentionally destroyed; providing measurements right up to the point of their demise.
My personal photography went on hold in the early days of digital. After several years I jumped back in now shooting with a Canon 80D.
I enjoy shooting landscapes and anything else that catches my eye. Nicida, and I are on a quest to photograph all the national parks, so far we have visited 20 of 63.
I write a blog of our travels, hikes, and other stuff. My goal is to inspire you to go out and enjoy these places; if you cannot, you can at least come along on the ride www.northxsouthwest.blogspot.com
