Corvette Club CA Approval for Restart of Cruises/Events due to COVID

Corvette Club

Guidelines for Transitional Operation

Revision Date: April 24, 2020

Introduction

The Corvette Club is a very social organization. As such, the COVID-19 virus stopped all of the planned events. The Club's events focus on originating in a parking lot in Sun City (with our cars, Corvettes and other vehicles) and then proceed on a planned route on county roads in Williamson County and the Hill Country. After 30 – 45 minutes of driving, the cruise usually ends at a restaurant (sometimes a brewery or winery) where the members eat, have a beverage, and socialize. In addition, the Club routinely gets together for breakfast at Mulligans or other local restaurants serving breakfast. Events are mostly scheduled on weekdays so we do not compete with weekend restaurant activities.

The transitional guidelines presented below will allow the Corvette Club to start meeting again, although on a limited basis. The guidelines stress individual responsibility. If any member is ill or has a fever, they must not participate in an event. Any Club member with an underlying health condition should consider not participating unless they strongly feel their personal safety is not compromised. In a public setting or when interacting with others, Club members shall wear masks. However, while in their cars on a cruise, members do not need to wear masks. Social and physical distancing will be followed. In order to ensure these guidelines are adhered to, a Board member will serve as the guideline monitor during every event. Once approved, the guidelines will be distributed to all Club members, and for each event, the guidelines will be provided to all members scheduled to participate. Using these guidelines, the Board strongly feels the Corvette Club can safely start club activities on a limited basis.

Transitional guidelines:

  • Club members meet at a Sun City parking lot with members remaining in their cars.
  • All Club members will be asked to wear masks while in the parking lot; while on the cruise, members do not need to wear their masks.
  • As part of the cruise announcement, Club members will receive a modified menu from a restaurant; members will select meal choices and send their choices to the cruise planner.
  • The cruise planner will pre-order the meals from the designated restaurant with the choices, names, and pick-up time.
  • Members drive the cruise route, ending at the designated parking lot.
  • Members must park in the lot maintaining separation, per the social distance guidelines provided below. In addition, members will wear masks while in the parking lot. Rigorous personal hygiene is strongly encouraged.
  • Members pick up their take-out, and can eat either in the parking lot (maintaining separation) or pick-up their take-out and head home – member's choice.  [NOTE: for dietary reasons, some members may bring their own food/drink as opposed to ordering from the restaurant.]
  • Members can congregate in the parking lot in groups of 10 or less (5 cars) while maintaining the social distance requirements.  The parking lot should provide a significant amount of separation but it is the duty of the cruise planner to assure that a significant amount of separation is always be maintained.
  • The definition of social distance for transitional club activities is as follows:
  • sSocial Distance for these guidelines is maintaining at least a six (6) foot radius of social distance between individuals and the limiting of gatherings to not more than 10 people. In addition, rigorous personal hygiene guidelines and staying at home if sick must be followed at all times.
  • Fundamental to this process is that residents must assume the responsibility, to themselves and to others, to strictly adhere to the guidelines set forth below. If this expectation is not followed it can and will result in loss of participation to that individual(s) while these guidelines are in effect. until the Club receives an "all clear" from the responsible authorities to resume "normal" activities.
  • These guidelines shall remain in effect until an "all clear" is announced by the responsible government authority and by the CA Board of Directors and "normal" activities can resume.
  • Club leadership shall inform all Club members of these transitional guidelines.
