The CA Board of Directors is a POLICY Board, not
an Operational Board. Let me elaborate.
(Board and Staff Relations) The Board of Directors
sets community policy, determines the annual
budget, and then hires a professional staff to
execute the budget and carry out those policies.
The Board also sets and enforces performance
standards. In my opinion the CA Board works best
when it stays out of operational matters.
(Board and Committee Relations) The Board
depends upon volunteer Committees. The
members of these committees are experienced in
their fields. As Residents, they can tailor solutions
to fit the Sun City Community as well as anticipate and prevent unintended consequences. The Board works best when it supports the recommendations of our Committees. If the Board finds reasons that compel them to go against Committee recommendations, those reasons should be openly explained.
(Board and NRO Relations) Every Homeowner’s Association has a governance structure (the CA), but only Sun City has a Neighborhood Representative Organization (NRO). Both must be independently nurtured. As a long-time NRO Rep, prior NRO Secretary, prior VP of the Board, and prior Vice Chair of the Nominating Committee, I understand the roles and missions of these organizations and the importance of their independence.
(Board and Resident Relations) Our Community Association exists to meet Residents’ needs and protect Residents’ interests. In order to accomplish that mission, Board Members must be accessible to, listen to, and communicate to our Residents.
I am well known for being accessible, responsive, and for my newsletter. If elected to the CA Board, I will continue continue those practices, as well as the newsletter in an appropriate form (especially the Curious Minds Want to Know feature)!
I am asking for your vote in the May 2023 CA Board of Directors Election.
