Golf preparing for inclement weather - Monday, Dec. 19

Covering greens due to low temperatures in forecast

Due to the forecasted cold temperatures and to remain in accordance with the Greens Covering Policy, we will shut down all golf courses to cover the greens on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Tentatively, we will remove the tarps on Monday, Dec. 26. Unfortunately, even though the weather for this Thursday isn’t bad, they are predicting wind speeds of 30 mph, which is too dangerous to cover the greens. The Legacy Hills Golf Shop will be open for 2023 pass sales and merchandise purchases. Please see the schedules below.

Golf Course Schedule

Wednesday, Dec. 21 – 8 a.m., Begin covering greens

(All courses closed all day)

(All courses closed all day)

Monday, Dec. 26 – 8 a.m., Begin removing covers

(All courses open for 1 p.m. Shotgun ONLY)

FREEZE FORECAST AND THINGS TO DO

TO PROTECT YOUR HOME

Sun City Water Matters Group

The current weather forecast for Thursday, Dec. 22 thru Saturday, Dec. 24, has a serious freeze feature. The Water Matters Group is recommending the following procedures to help protect your irrigation system and the piping system in and around you home.

1. Be sure your sprinkler system is turned OFF.

2. Protect the Hose Bibs on the outside of your house, particularly the one that has a North/Northwest exposure. If at all possible, use a “cover” that is sold at most local hardware stores for approximately $3.00. You may want to use an old wash rag around the “bib”, held with a rubber band before installing the “cover.”

3. Drip your inside faucets particularly, the faucets that are near an outside wall.

  • Turn on both hot and cold handles.
  • Run day and night when below 32 degrees and wind is strong.
  • Open doors on sink cabinets to let warmer air circulate around piping.
