Smart 911 Program
Town Hall

Thursday, February 2
9 a.m. • Ballroom

Presented by the Emergency Management Committee

Smart 911 is a service that allows residents to create a free safety profile for their household that includes any information they want first responders to have in the event of an emergency. While the program has not yet launched, the City of Georgetown is working to integrate the program into its Emergency Services System by early 2017. This program supplements the emergency information stored in the plastic bag in/on your fridge. Join the EMC and the Georgetown Office of Emergency Management to learn more about this new initiative.

Hiking In Sun City:
Please Stay on Designated Trails

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

imgIt has been brought to the CA’s attention that some homeowners are hiking in the common areas and are not staying on the designated trails established by the Community. As a reminder, our rules require residents to stay on the trails. This is for many reasons, safety being one of them. In many of our native areas we have what we refer to as Preserve Areas. Preserve Areas may include areas that serve as habitat for endangered species and/or be critical to ground water recharge conditions in the area around Sun City Texas. Entry into these areas is prohibited, excepting solely when using designated nature trails and otherwise in compliance with posted rules.

Furthermore, we have deer and hog traps set up in some native areas and residents who get around these locations can harm our trapping efforts, which in the long run costs the CA money. So, please remember when you want to take a nice hike to stay on the designated hiking trails. If you bring your dog with you, please remember to keep them on a leash and pick up after their “business.” Click Here for a map to our excellent hiking trails in Sun City.

Yellow Bag Contest
Win a $50 Visa Card!

The yellow recycle bags collected in Sun City are being under filled which makes it difficult for the recycling staff to pull the bags from the sorting line. Under-filling the bags also increases the cost of the program as residents pick up more bags than needed. So that we may continue to receive these bags free of charge, please do not automatically put your yellow bag in your recycle container every two weeks; only deposit the bag in your container when it is completely full.

imgChance to win $50!
Have you ever wondered HOW MANY plastic grocery bags will fit in your yellow bag? Visit the Social Center Monitors desk and submit your guess of how many bags are included in OUR full yellow bag pictured below for a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card! Submissions accepted through January 31.

Feral Swine (Hog) Damage at White Wing Golf Course - Update

Submitted by Gary Wilson, Director of Golf, [email protected]

In November of 2016 hogs began causing considerable damage to the White Wing Golf Course and some surrounding residential lots. Since that time, the Community Association has been working with our Wildlife Biologist Warren Bluntzer to control the damage and remove the hogs from our community. Extensive trapping efforts have been taken and to date we have captured 22 hogs, 14 of which were captured on January 24. Based on these results, we now believe we have captured the majority of the hogs that have been destroying the golf course. While there may be a few remaining hogs, it is likely they have vacated the area. We will continue to monitor the situation for some time to come in the event that they return and ask that you continue to stay clear of the equipment and trapping sites. Thank you to Charles Moore and crew for the extra help in this effort.

We appreciate your patience while we worked to eliminate this problem. Visit the Golf Course Blog for all golf related issues, including hogs.
