Veterans Day Ceremony Friday, November 11 Veterans Memorial Plaza Sun City Texas • 2 Texas Drive 11 a.m. • Free • Open to publicThe annual Veterans Day Ceremony is a special event honoring all those veterans who have served in our military forces and those men and women who are serving today. The guest speaker will be Major General Douglas Chalmers, Deputy Commanding General - Support of III Corps and Fort Hood.
The Georgetown High School band, orchestra and choir will provide music beginning at 10:45 a.m. All veterans and their families attending will be recognized and several veterans will participate in the program. Chaplain Kelly Barnett, Colonel, U.S. Army Retired will give the invocation and the benediction. Captain Jim Robinson, U.S. Coast Guard Retired will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Colonel James R. Chalaire, U.S. Air Force Retired and Commander Bob Kelety, U.S. Navy Retired will each be honored by dedication of a tree and plaque behind the Memorial Wall. Master Sergeant John Wood, U.S. Air Force Retired will assist Georgetown Mayor Dale Ross in placing a wreath at the Memorial Wall in honor of all servicemen and women. Commander Doug Kienitz, U.S. Navy Retired will assist Williamson County Commissioner Valerie Covey in placing a second wreath at the Williamson County Memorial Wall in memory of the 175 servicemen from Williamson County who have given their lives in combat.
The Community Association will serve refreshments on the Social Center patio after the ceremony.
Parking & Seating Parking is available at the Social Center at 2 Texas Drive and across the street at the Activities Center at 1 Texas Drive. Seven-hundred folding chairs will be placed at the Memorial or guests are invited to bring a folding chair and sit under the trees.
* In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the Ballroom.
