 Phil Lahman

Sun City is special because WE live here. We made the choices in life that allow us to be part of this wonderful community. We have responsibilities and expectations about the part of our lives that include Sun City. We did not move to Sun City for all the same reasons, but I think it is fair to say we all want our community to thrive and a future that protects the value of our homes and community amenities. To avoid further dilution of community amenities and to shelter residents from unnecessary planned assessment increases, it is vital that we improve resident awareness of any significant changes to our covenants. Neither the Net Working Capital Agreement or the reallocation of Golf Reserves to the HOA budget were reviewed per OMATI or purchasing policy guidelines These two items will impact the 2017 HOA budget and are likely to contribute to an increase in the HOA assessment.

Accordingly, my goal as a Resident Director of the CA Board is to improve resident influence on the future of Sun City. I believe open discussion improves resident awareness and will lead to better policy decisions for Sun City, particularly those decisions that redirect expenses from the Developer to the residents.

I am using a "blog" to communicate my concerns and ideas. Why a blog? Because it offers a reader the ability to comment and know their ideas will be shared with other readers. My hope is that my blog and/or forums that reference the blog will add to the quality of information sharing. I believe Sun City can be a better place if HOA staff and members of governance committees would participate in open discussions. I invite you to visit my blog at observationsInSunCityTexas.blogspot.com and feel welcome to share your thoughts.
