Did you know there’s a Lost and Found located in the Member Services Office? If you’ve lost something recently, be sure to check with Member Services to see if someone turned it in to our office. We have quite a large collection of items that need to be retrieved.

On April 2, we will be donating all unclaimed glasses to the Lions Club and clothing and other items to The Caring Place.

Wildlife Committee
Town Hall

With special emphasis on
whitetail deer management

Monday, April 4 • 9:30 a.m.
Social Center Ballroom

The Sun City Wildlife Management Committee will be hosting the annual Town Hall event to discuss wildlife management within our community on Monday, April 4, at 9:30 a.m. in the Social Center Ballroom. Topics will include the management of deer, vultures and other wildlife issues and focus on how the Committee seeks to maintain a healthy balance between human and wildlife populations that exist here.

Warren Bluntzer, Sun City Wildlife Biologist, will discuss the deer management program and efforts to control other wildlife. Paul Ohlenbusch, vegetation management advisor, will be on hand to explain vegetation clearing for fire and flood control purposes. Attendees at the meeting are welcome to ask questions regarding wildlife management issues within Sun City.

Director Election

The filing period for pre-qualified candidates ended on March 31 and there are three individuals campaigning for two open seats on the Sun City Texas Community Association Board of Directors. In alphabetical order, the candidates are:

  • Bob Glandt
  • Phillip Lahman
  • Gary Sandercock
The Elections Committee and staff are working diligently with the pre-qualified candidates to meet CA sponsored campaigning deadlines for publications to the community during April and May. Residents will have the opportunity to learn about the candidates, their qualifications and backgrounds via Special CA Blasts, channel 18 interviews, and access to candidate websites via www.sctexas.org.

Additionally, per the requirements in the Voting and Election Policy, a Candidate Forum is scheduled for Monday, April 18 at 9:00 a.m., in the Ballroom, so that all residents will have an opportunity to hear from the candidates and submit questions. Residents may submit questions they would like all candidates to respond to by sending an email to [email protected] or by submitting written questions at the Member Services Office to the attention of the Elections Committee. Questions will also be collected at the Candidate Forum. Future Campaign Communicators about the candidates will be sent to the community on Tuesday, April 12, 19, 26 and May 3. ​

Nominating Committee
Applications Due Friday, April 29

The Nominating Committee is gearing up for their bi-annual process of making recommendations to the Board of Directors for upcoming vacancies to the advisory Committees in the Community Association governance structure. The Nominating Committee itself will have one upcoming vacancy later this spring.

If you are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee, applications are available online or in the CA Member Services Office on Texas Drive. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 29, and applications should be turned in to Katie Sutton in the CA Member Services Office. The Board of Directors will be conducting interviews at a date to be determined in the spring, likely in the early May time frame.

Pickleball Lights Are
Working on Courts 5 & 6

Just in time for daylight savings time, the new lights on Pickleball Courts 5 and 6 have been installed and are now working. There is a light switch located outside Court 5 to turn the lights on and off.

Please note: These lights cannot be turned on any earlier than 7 a.m. and must be turned off no later than 9 p.m. Out of respect to our neighbors who live across the street, even if you are on the verge of winning that last point, the lights must be turned off at 9 p.m. Thank you all for your cooperation in adhering to these lighting rules.

    Pie Contest!

 

Are you ready to bake, rattle and roll? Sun Rays magazine is inviting any and all resident pie bakers to boast their baking skills at our Slice of Life Pie Contest! Pies will be evaluated by an anonymous panel of judges, with prizes awarded for Best Fruit Pie, Best Non-Fruit Pie, Most Original Pie and Best In Show.

WHEN: Thursday, May 12, 2016
Contestant Mixer: 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Public Pie Social: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.

WHERE: Social Center & Social Center Patio (2 Texas Drive, Georgetown, TX)

All contest entry forms MUST be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016. No entry forms will be accepted after this time. No unregistered pies will be accepted.

Registration is free.

Pies MUST be delivered to the Communications Office (Social Center,  behind the Monitor’s Desk) by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 for judging.
