National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Saturday, September 26
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Legacy Hills Park Pavilion

Submitted by Chick Gladwin

Start cleaning out your medicine cabinet in preparation for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, a time when you can dispose of unwanted and expired medications properly at the Legacy Hills Park Pavilion. There will be no need to get out of your vehicle, just hand your items to a volunteer in the parking lot.

It is not necessary to keep your medications in their original containers. A plastic zip bag for pills is acceptable.

Items that WILL be accepted (from you, a family member or pet):
Expired or unwanted prescription medications, unneeded over-the-counter medicines, unknown tablets and capsules, and controlled medications such as narcotics or stimulants. Examples of medications include items that manage diabetes, blood pressure or high cholesterol.

Items that WILL NOT be accepted:
Sharps/needles, thermometers, IV bags, personal care products and medical equipment.
(Please note a policy change: The DEA is no longer accepting sharps/needles.)

This is your opportunity to dispose of prescription drugs in a safe manner that does not harm the local water supply or environment in any way. For more information call 1-800-882-9539 or click below.

Friendly Reminders

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

  1. Please watch your speed when driving within our community. We have a lot of activity happening this time of year and do not want to see anyone get hurt.
  2. I have had requests to remind motorists to use their blinkers when making turns or switching lanes.
  3. Please, Please, Please, yield to the pedestrians in the crosswalks. Pedestrians, please ensure it is safe before entering a crosswalk.
  4. When parking on the road, please make sure to park on the correct side. The GTPD may ticket you if you are not!
  5. Please be careful when driving on Sun City Boulevard because of the road work and irrigation repairs that are underway between Dove Hollow (where the new concrete path is being constructed) and Travis Drive.
  6. With the dry weather, please be mindful when smoking and discard your butt’s in a responsible manner.
  7. Our flags are at half-mast until after the funeral for the soldiers that were killed in Tennessee.
