Water Restrictions Recently Amended by the City of GeorgetownSubmitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]
Due to the wonderful rainfall our area has received this Spring, the City of Georgetown recently lifted its 19-month watering restriction of two days a week and reverted back to a three day a week watering program. This change was based on the city’s water conservation plan that is divided into stages and based on certain action triggers determined by the lake levels of Stillhouse Hollow Lake and Lake Georgetown.
Fortunately, over the last two years we have determined that we don’t have to irrigate three days a week to keep our lawns and common areas looking good and the CA encourages all homeowners to continue with their two day a week irrigation programming that has served the community well. Furthermore, during our hot summers, we have determined that lawns need to be watered about 1” per week, whether it comes from Mother Nature or from your sprinklers. This can be done in two days. However, those who wish to spread this 1” out over three days may do so now, but if you decide to do this, please ensure you are keeping your irrigation settings and run times inline as to not exceed the 1” needed per week. Let’s save money and water by maintaining the twice a week watering practice we’ve been using for the past 19 months! Watering more than necessary would be throwing money down the drain and wasting valuable water. If you need help setting up your controller, please contact a Water Matters Ambassador through your Neighborhood Representative for a complete and thorough irrigation system evaluation. __________________

| Elections: Your Ideas are ImportantEmail your answers by June 24As you know, this year there were only two candidates for two vacant positions on the CA Board. There is a concern that the campaigning time commitment for candidates and their team may discourage some highly qualified people from running.
The Board of Directors has asked the Elections Committee to research options to an annual election. Homeowner Associations across the nation have been surveyed. And now it is time to collect information from you, the residents.
Please email your answers to the following questions to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, June 24. - Board members currently serve two-year terms, with terms for two members expiring each year. What alternative plan would you suggest?
- In your opinion, are annual elections important?
- Do you think asking a CA Board member to serve a three-year term rather than a two-year term would discourage residents from becoming candidates?
- Do you have suggestions for encouraging highly qualified residents to run for the CA Board of Directors?
____________________________ Friendly RemindersSubmitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director - Van Accessible Handicap Parking: First I would like to thank those who respect and honor these handicap parking spots and only use them when properly permitted. For those who do have the handicap stickers/placards, please do not park in the van accessible spaces unless you need the access aisle and leave these open for those who do need them.
- Reminder for our many cyclists: Please remember that bicycles are not permitted on our nature trails and sidewalks.
- Fishing in Sun City: Just a reminder that the only locations homeowners can fish in SCT are the Berry Creek Pond and the Cowan Creek Fishing Pond. All other bodies of water are off limits to fishing, which includes all Golf Course ponds.
- Crosswalks: I have said it before and I will plead again, PLEASE yield to pedestrians (your fellow residents) who are in the crosswalks or in the median trying to cross a crosswalk.
____________________________Landscape UpdatesSubmitted by Catrin Dubois, Landscape Superintendent, [email protected] or 512-948-7791
Del Webb Blvd. and other CA landscaped areas will receive a facelift this year. There will be turf replacement, and new plantings in some flower beds and on some medians.
With all this work you will see various lane closures marked by traffic cones. Our contractor will do their best to hinder traffic as little as possible. However, for safety’s sake please slow down and take your time around the areas. With the recent rains, all construction companies are delayed with their projects including the developer’s team. We are now ready to rock and show our expertise in landscape design along with water conservation.
Your landscape staff is outside most of the time, so expect return phone calls in the late afternoon.
