Sandy Goodman
Good for Sun City Texas

[email protected]

Mike and I have been permanent residents of Sun City Texas since 2006 and homeowners since 1999.

I have spent many years living all over the world, following my husband on international construction projects. During these years, I served on several boards of international organizations which helped expatriates adjust to new cultures while serving the local communities by fundraising. Because I have experienced these many cultures as a resident, I believe I have an understanding of people and how they function in everyday life. I have also learned that there is more than one way of looking at a problem to find a solution, sometimes even in different languages.

Here in Sun City Texas I am an active tennis player and occasional golfer. I also enjoy playing bridge which keeps my brain moving. I am a member of several charter clubs and have been an officer of the Foreign Language Club, Zoomers, and the Tennis Association. I am now into my 5th year as the President of Zoomers, and I am returning to serve the Tennis Association as Secretary.

It has been such a privilege to serve our community as a member of the CA Nominating Committee. I am now in my 4th year, and I have enjoyed the opportunity to meet so many outstanding residents of this community who apply for the CA advisory committees. My time on the Nominating Committee has given me a picture of the inner workings of this community. I have an understanding of how our community functions and the interaction of these advisory committees with the residents, the board, and the CA staff. I also serve our local community as a member of the Assistance League of the Georgetown Area.

This is such a wonderful place to live and it is my desire to serve as a resident director to continue efforts to keep Sun City Texas the outstanding community it is.

SANDY HAS PROVIDED DEDICATED AND DEPENDABLE
SERVICE TO SUN CITY TEXAS:

  • CURRENT PRESIDENT - ZOOMERS (5th YEAR)
  • CURRENT SECRETARY - SCTX TENNIS ASSOCIATION
  • CURRENT MEMBER OF CA NOMINATING COMMITTEE (4th YEAR)
  • PAST OFFICER OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLUB, ZOOMERS, AND SUN
    CITY TEXAS TENNIS ASSOCIATION
  • ACTIVE MEMBER OF ZOOMERS, COUNTRY WESTERN DANCE CLUB,
FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLUB AND SCTX TENNIS ASSOCIATION
  • GEORGETOWN COMMUNITY SERVICE - ASSISTANCE LEAGUE

It's Time to Grow Up

Yep, we are past our teenage years, celebrating our 20th birthday this year! As we rush into our twenties, Ma and Pa Pulte won’t be with us forever and we have a few years to finish growing up and getting ready to stand on our own.

For a twenty year old, we are in solid financial condition with comparatively strong reserves and low dues. That said, where are we going when we can’t ask mom or dad for a couple of bucks?

Long-term or Strategic Planning, if done right, isn’t a once and done activity. It takes years to become mature and effective. First, you have to define who you are. Then figure out what your strengths are. Finally, you have to start thinking about where you want to go, not where mom or dad tells you to go.

Certainly we want to:

  • Maintain our quality of life
  • Ensure stability of our financial structure

But do/have we:

  • Assessed risk to our infrastructure
  • Determined what facilities we want/need in the future, beyond Pulte
  • Considered how to market SCTX in the future, beyond Pulte
  • Know what relationship we want to have with Georgetown

This type of planning will require years to establish and mature. Then we have to marry it to long-term financial planning. This year, next year, but it’s time we begin the process
