Join Us for Wildfire Community Preparedness DaySaturday, May 2 9 .m. • CCACSubmitted by the Firewise Group
Tomorrow will be a beautiful morning to get out and clear some small junipers (cedar). Temperatures are predicted to be in the upper 60's to upper 70's with clear skies during the morning. Start with some refreshments before attacking the junipers. Then come back for lunch!
Meet at Cowan Creek Amenity Center (CCAC) before 9 a.m. for coffee and donuts. We will have a short safety briefing before fanning out and doing clearing near the Center. We will work until about 11:30 a.m. then return for a lunch of brats, hotdogs, chips and beverages as a reward for your service.
What to wear and bring: Closed toe shoes are required and long pants, gloves, and shirts with
long sleeves are highly recommended. Bring your hand-held pruners and
limb loppers marked with your name.
SPECIAL: The Georgetown Fire Department Wildfire Crew and their brush
truck plan to be with us all morning unless they get a call!
There is still time to RSVP. For
any questions please contact [email protected] or
[email protected].

The United States Postal Service has agreed to install a blue drop box like we have in the Social Center parking lot for our residents' mail and convenience. It will be located in the parking lot of the Cowan Creek Amenity Center and accessible by car or golf cart. With all of the red curbs in this lot, we did not have many choices that the USPS would agree to, but they did agree to this location. We have installed the concrete pad for it to sit on and hopefully it will be installed the week of May 4th! __________________Lessons LearnedRemembering those who shaped our livesSubmitted by Peggie Evans, Sun Rays magazine
Mother’s Day and Father’s Day provide occasions for us to celebrate and honor special people who’ve lifted us, guided us and helped shape our lives. Sun Rays magazine invites residents to contribute for possible publication to a feature article planned for its June issue called “Lessons Learned.”
Your submission should be about someone you’d like to honor who taught you some of life’s important lessons, and what you learned from that person. It might be a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, teacher, special friend or someone else. Please limit your submission to 250 words or less and turn it in by May 5 to Peggie Evans in the Communications Department or email her at [email protected]. __________________
