Line the Streets!

As the soldiers arrive, Sun City Texas residents line Sun City Boulevard from the Highway 195 entrance all the way to White Wing Golf Course, waving at the buses of soldiers as they pass. Once the buses reach White Wing Golf Course, they are met with even more residents waving their flags, eager to shake these young soldiers’ hands.

Buses are scheduled to arrive at White Wing at 11 a.m., so come on out and say “thanks” to the troops!

  • 11 a.m. Cheer the troops as they turn in from SH 195 onto Sun City Blvd. led by the motorcycle roar of the Patriot Guard. Line the streets and wave your flags.
  • 11:20 a.m. Everyone is invited to greet the troops at White Wing prior to play.
"Thanks to the Troops" Event
Needs Veterans to Play
On Friday, June 15, Sun City Texas will host the Thanks to the Troops golf event at White Wing Golf Course. This is your chance to personally thank our Fort Hood warriors for their service and for protecting our proud country.

Are You a Veteran?
A military veteran is paired with three soldiers from Fort Hood to play. We need a few more veterans to fill out the field. If you would like to join a team, please contact Anne Henry at 512-869-7934 or [email protected].
Sponsors Needed!
We need residents, clubs or neighborhoods to sponsor a soldier, a team of soldiers or a hole. Sponsorships provide prizes for all the soldiers, their greens fees, cart rentals and their dinners.

to download a sponsorship form or drop by any Sun City Texas golf shop. Please return the forms to any Sun City Texas golf shop.

It's not about the golf, it's
about showing our gratitude!
Stake Out a Spot!
The tournament begins at 1 p.m. with each hole sponsored by neighborhoods. We ask all residents to stake out a spot and be there to cheer on the troops.

Can we borrow your golf clubs?
Most of the 108 troops joining us do not have clubs. If you can loan your clubs for the day, bring them to White Wing on Wednesday or Thursday, June 13 or 14 between 2 and 5 p.m. They will be returned Saturday morning.
Thanks to the Troops Shirts!

Now in stock at the White Wing golf shop are unisex tee shirts and men’s and women’s polos with the Thanks to the Troops logo. Show your support for our soldiers and pick one up today!

Submitted by Krystal Wilson, Director of Communications

The post office will begin delivery of the newest edition of your Sun City Texas Resource Guide & Directory in late June and early July. As always, your privacy is important to us. Each copy will be individually addressed to you and packaged in plastic to protect it during transit. Your official Sun City Texas Resource Guide & Directory is full of helpful resources including updated neighborhood maps, contact information for your city, county, emergency and utility providers, CA information and the most up-to-date phone numbers for your neighbors. The book also includes a business directory full of local businesses that have invested in your community and look forward to working with you. Please remember to tell our advertisers that you saw their ad in the Sun Rays or Directory!

What if I am out of town this summer?
If you have held or forwarded your mail with the Post Office for the summer (or during this delivery time frame) we will hold your copy of the Directory for you to pick up upon your return. When you return, please bring your Member ID or photo ID with Sun City Texas address to the Communications Office at 2 Texas Drive to pick up your copy.
What do i do with my old directory?
Once your new Directory arrives, please deposit your old Directory in the blue bin located across from the tennis courts at 2 Texas Drive. The CA will securely shred these books to protect your privacy.

New Water Tower Update
The contractor has completed the foundation and starter wall for the concrete support column along with the concrete slab in the center for the crane that is to be installed. Crews for the concrete pedestal portion of the tank will be arriving onsite the week of June 11 to install the crane and begin that portion of the tank.

During this process, the crane will be used for forming and pouring the structure. There will be multiple concrete pours over the next few months until this process is completed. There may also be times when it is necessary to begin concrete pours earlier in the morning than normal. If those times arise, I will send out an email in advance to provide notification of these pours.

Thank you,
Chris Pousson
