Submitted by Cynthia Chapman, Member Services Manager, 512-948-7716, [email protected]

Did you know there’s a Lost and Found located in the Member Services Office? If you’ve lost something recently, be sure to check with Member Services to see if someone turned it in to our office. We have quite a large collection of items that need to be retrieved.

On April 2, we will be donating all unclaimed glasses to the Lions Club and clothing and other items to The Caring Place.

Friendly Reminders
Traffic Safety

Submitted by Jim Romine, Executive Director, [email protected]

In my last Friendly Reminder I was remiss in not including the importance of not only watching out for our golf carts and autos, but also our pedestrians and cyclists. We are all in this together and do not want anyone hurt while on our turf. Also, while the CA does not manage traffic or traffic laws, we can encourage our homeowners to respect all of the traffic laws and to please stop at stop signs, stay within the posted speed limits and drive with courtesy. Thanks to all and lets be safe.

Applying Ant Bait

Submitted by Carlton Mathis, Common Area & Irrigation Superintendent,
[email protected]

We normally perform our ant bait treatment during the month of April. With the early Spring, I am beginning the Common Area application this month as the mounds are already starting to proliferate. Signage will be posted in high traffic areas as a reminder to the community.

DIY Tips for Successful Application:

  • Do not schedule any irrigation for 48 hours, and wait until all dew has dried from turf area
  • Do not apply if there is a chance of rain in the 2-day forecast
  • Do not apply if temperatures are below 60 degrees
  • Use small amounts of bait and broadcast with a small hand spreader. If applying by hand, be sure to wear plastic gloves and follow label directions
  • Check with your lawn care company to see if this insect control is included in your contract before purchasing a product
  • And, remember, if you see ant mounds during the year and you wonder if the product is working―ant bait is a means of control, not eradication

img   Water Matters

Submitted by Carlton Mathis, Common Area & Irrigation Superintendent,
    [email protected]

My official rain total for last week was 2.94 inches. Some areas may have received more or less, my house received over 5 inches. Controllers should be off this week. With more rain being forecasted for Thursday and Friday, I would venture that next week it can remain off as well. Should the precipitation avoid us, I’m looking at the middle to the end of next week before I will turn on the CA Irrigation system. I received some reports about controllers being affected by last week’s lightning, and have had to be reset. Also, we had the recent time change, so take a few moments and make sure your controller is set correctly.

Need Help Setting Your Water Controller?
The Water Matters Team is available to help familiarize you with your irrigation system. If you need help setting up your controller, or would like a complete a thorough evaluation of your irrigation system, send an email to
[email protected] or contact your Neighborhood Representative. A Water Matters member will come to your home to assist you.

Sun City Street Sealant
Work Suspended

The application of street sealant in Sun City has been suspended. Inconsistency in drying times resulted in driveway tracking and street closures that were longer than anticipated. The Street Department is working to find an alternative product better suited for high-volume neighborhoods. Crews are continuing to clean driveways with excessive tracking. Residents will be notified before the application of new sealant is resumed.
